What is a crostata?

A crostata is a typical Italian dessert made out of a pasta frolla crust and filled with anything from jam to cream. Typically you will also find strips of pastry on top.

Lemon tart is a dessert that is very popular in Italy, mostly in the South, seen the production of citruses.  While its origin is French, lemon crostata are now part of the italian cusine.

INGREDIENTS

eggs white caster sugar flour unsalted butter salt bicarbonate of soda lemon full-fat milk cornflour lemon essence

STEP 1

Prep the lemon crema pasticcera and refrigerate. Prepare the dough for the crust and let it rest.

STEP 2

Roll out the dough, add it to a cake tin. Fill it with the lemon custard and bake. Enjoy your crostata lemon curd!
